I work and play at the intersection of (chrono)photography, sciencefilm, microscopy and optics.

being wedged in the ambiguities of the conversation between these fields, I developed An image-making procedure that exposes thousands of detailed configurations. A visual technology that reveals an inexhaustible source of arcane forms, colours and weird textures. Utterly unpredictable and complex, but always Entirely hand-made in a custom made set-up.

With their distinct shapes and surface features, the WORKS resemble relics found in the natural world. But on closer review however, they turn out to be renderings of a more artificial, improbable place. The images shift scale and oscillate between micro-and macroscopic levels, forcing graspable matter to behave in a manner parallel to the movement of larger, unreachable formations. towards geologic or even cosmic proportions.

In addition to this work I have been active as tutor in various academic programs since 2009, including mentorship for the MA and Bfa program of the artscience Interfaculty in The Hague (NL). In the context of this course I developed various theatrical installations, seminars and teaching programs inspired by systems and theories from various scientific fields. the most notable of which was a program that promoted the sensory and poetic translation of the history of landscape and landscape narratives.

marineris is a moniker, created for the sole purpose of making sentient beings.
